New Chapter Application

Thank you for your interest in starting a chapter of UAID! Members of a UAID chapters benefit from a number of opportunities including:

Training in health equity with an opportunity to earn a certificate
Training in designing, executing, and evaluating community health projects
Real-world experience working to reduce local health inequities
Leadership opportunities and development of professional skills required by most health professions programs (e.g., AAMC core competencies)
Experience writing research papers to be published in the UAID Journal
Experience creating research posters for and presenting research projects at the UAID Conference
Monthly mentorship opportunities with leaders in public health
Fulfillment of academic credit, practicum, or capstone requirements

New Chapter Application

UAID will be accepting a very limited number of new chapters to the organization for the 2025-26 academic year. All applications submitted by a student leader must also have the support of a campus advisor. University support, including financial support, will be required before chapters can be approved. Other stakeholders or institutions interested in starting a chapter of UAID or bringing our flagship Community Project to your members are welcome to contact us at info@uaid.org for more information.

Why do you want to start a chapter of UAID on your campus?

If selected, the Student Founder will be responsible for getting their UAID chapter officially recognized by the university, recruiting a board and general members, leading campus events, launching the UAID Community Project in their community, and having monthly meetings with UAID, their Chapter Advisor, and UAID Health Equity Practice Mentor. These responsibilities require a time commitment of 6-10 hours/week. Will the Student Founder be able to execute these responsibilities?

If selected, the Chapter Advisor will collaborate with the UAID President to seek university support, including financial support, and will offer regular guidance to the Student Founder throughout the academic year via monthly meetings. These responsibilities require a time commitment of 20-40 hours/year. Will the Chapter Advisor be able to execute these responsibilities?
